ABOUT UMPO

The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Series is a musical parody series created by Kate Pazakis, and Musical Director Gregory Nabours, in Los Angeles, CA.

The series takes popular movies and television, adapts it to stage, and adds popular songs, hilarious and relatable comedy, to produce theatrical hits. Pazakis’s intelligent comedic writing, Nabour’s brilliant musical scores, and the amazing talent casted in UMPO shows, combine to create one of the kind evenings for LA theatre admirers. The UMPO Series began in 2015 with The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Scream, written by Richard Register and Michael Gans. Pazakis has since then written and produced other comedic hits such as: UMPO Bridesmaids, UMPO Jurassic Park, UMPO Mean Gurlz, UMPO A League of Their Own, and UMPO 10 Things I Hate About You. She also co-wrote: UMPOs Hocus Pocus, UMPO Troop Beverly Hills, UMPO The Big Lebowski, UMPO Cruel Intentions, UMPO The Devil Wears Prada, UMPO Home Alone, UMPO Rocky, UMPO Clueless, and UMPO Stranger Things. The series continues to grow and has new productions every year.

The UMPO Series has had the wonderful opportunities to be involved in Los Angeles culture. The UMPO team has had various appearances on Los Angeles local morning news channels. At the beginning of Summer 2018, UMPO walked with Project Angel Food at the Los Angeles 2018 Pride Parade. At the end of Summer of 2018, The UMPO Hocus Pocus witches were the surprise special guests at the MidSummer Scream Convention in Long Beach, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hocus Pocus film with a special performance. At the same convention, UMPO creator Kate Pazakis, was on a panel about creating and producing haunted theatre!
